Who We Are

Commissioner and Staff

In December 2016, the Board of Directors of the WSIB appointed Anna Martins as the Commissioner of the Fair Practices Commission.  Ms. Martins has worked at the Fair Practices Commission since its inception in 2003.  She served in various roles including Deputy Commissioner and Acting Commissioner.  She has a broad knowledge of the WSIB and an in-depth understanding of the policies governing the WSIB and the stakeholders it serves.

From 1988 to 2003, Ms. Martins worked at the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal (WSIAT) in a variety of capacities including manager of the Intake Department and manager of the former Registrar’s Desk.  Prior to that, she worked at the Ministry of the Attorney General, Crown Law Office, and as a paralegal in various law firms in the private sector.

Anna Martins and her dedicated staff are committed to providing excellent service to the workers, employers and service providers who contact the Commission.

Our Mission

The mission of the Fair Practices Commission is to facilitate fair, equitable and timely resolutions in individual complaints brought by workers, employers and service providers and to identify and recommend system-wide improvements to Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) services.
